Digital assets, real-world assets & RWA tokenization
RWA SUMMIT connects industry leaders working at the intersection of digital assets, real-world assets and institutional finance. This guide explains the terms, links them to the published summit programme, and helps you explore the upcoming Hong Kong and Dubai editions.
Digital assets
The broader digital-finance ecosystem, including cryptoassets, stablecoins and tokenized financial instruments.
In blockchain finance, digital assets are digitally recorded representations of value or rights. The term includes native cryptoassets, stablecoins and tokenized financial instruments. These categories are not interchangeable: their backing, legal rights and risks differ.
RWA SUMMIT brings this conversation into an institutional setting, connecting asset managers, regulators and infrastructure providers. Its published programmes explore custody, payments, on-chain settlement, stablecoins and the infrastructure needed to use digital assets in financial markets.
Real-world assets
Financial or physical assets outside a blockchain, such as bonds, funds, private credit, real estate and commodities.
Real-world assets, often abbreviated to RWA or RWAs, are financial or physical assets that exist outside a blockchain. Examples include bonds, fund interests, private credit, real estate and commodities. In tokenization discussions, the token usually represents a claim or defined rights linked to an underlying asset, rather than the physical asset itself.
The Singapore 2026 archive provides concrete programme context: sessions covered financial-products tokenization, real estate, institutional infrastructure and private credit. These are completed sessions, not an announcement of the 2027 agenda.
RWA tokenization
Representing claims or rights linked to real-world assets as tokens on a programmable ledger.
RWA tokenization is the process of recording claims or rights linked to real-world assets as digital tokens on a programmable ledger, often a blockchain. Tokenization and tokenisation are alternative spellings of the same concept. Smart contracts can support programmed transfers and other asset-related workflows.
A token does not by itself guarantee legal ownership, liquidity or investment returns. The underlying legal structure, custody arrangements, asset verification, transfer restrictions and applicable regulation remain important. At RWA SUMMIT, these practical questions connect technology discussions with institutional adoption.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between digital assets and real-world assets?
Digital assets are a broad category of digitally represented value or rights. Real-world assets are underlying financial or physical assets outside a blockchain. A tokenized real-world asset can belong to both discussions: a digital token represents specified rights linked to the underlying asset.
Is RWA tokenization the same as cryptocurrency?
No. A native cryptocurrency exists on its network, while a tokenized real-world asset represents specified claims or rights linked to an underlying asset. Their legal structures, backing and risk profiles can differ substantially.
Which real-world asset tokenization topics has RWA SUMMIT covered?
The published Singapore 2026 programme includes financial-products tokenization, real estate tokenization, institutional RWA infrastructure, private credit, stablecoins and PayFi. The archive preserves the session titles and participants as historical information.
Who is RWA SUMMIT for?
RWA SUMMIT brings together industry leaders, asset managers, institutional investors, regulators, tokenization platforms and digital-asset infrastructure providers. The events connect the technical, legal and commercial sides of institutional digital assets.
